&lt;p&gt;Probability is one of the most intuitive concepts compared to other fields of mathematics. Humans reason about notions of &lt;em&gt;chance&lt;/em&gt; and &lt;em&gt;uncertainty&lt;/em&gt; in their daily lives. Words like &lt;em&gt;random&lt;/em&gt;, &lt;em&gt;experiment&lt;/em&gt;, &lt;em&gt;outcome&lt;/em&gt;, and even &lt;em&gt;probability&lt;/em&gt; are not uncommon in our natural language. Compare this to something like Calculus: &lt;em&gt;gradient&lt;/em&gt;, &lt;em&gt;derivative&lt;/em&gt;, &lt;em&gt;integrals&lt;/em&gt;, &lt;em&gt;inflection&lt;/em&gt; are not words we use, and are not concepts that we tend to reason about every day.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This familiarity makes probability approachable, but confusing. It&amp;rsquo;s very easy to misinterpret formal probability writing. Also, some seemingly intuitive probability concepts may seem convoluted, or the formal language may seem to unnecessarily overcomplicate them.
